Hi — My name’s Matt Schmidt. I’m a Programmer, musician, nerd, dork, and many other things. I currently work as a Web Application Developer for a small company in Wilmington, Delaware.

I started this site under the name Sloat and the fake company Sloatworks in 1997. It was orignally a distribution source for the 3 games I had created in Visual Basic.

I got in to programming when I was about 9 years old, starting with Basic and Logo on a TRS-80 and Apple \\e, respectively. I wanted to make NES games and being a programmer is pretty much all I ever wanted to do aside from a brief time when I wanted to be a stand-up comedian.

Matt_ptr * is meant to be kind of a code-pun; ptr being a common suffix for a pointer type meaning that a Matt_ptr type would point to me, Matt — now you can see why I didn’t become a comedian. Really I was just tired of the Sloatworks name and having to explain that it doesn’t really mean anything.

Anyway, that’s about it. If you have any questions, comments or concerns that can’t be posted in a comment, send me a message at matt@mattptr.net.
